2013 MERIT AWARD FOR MIXED-USE
This project consisted of an infill mixed-use redevelopment of a former surface parking lot, including a full level of underground parking with dedicated garages and elevators for townhouses units above. There are 10 residential units – some two storey townhouse type and others single level walk-up apartments, all with street-friendly entrances and balconies or patios. There are two apartments on the back-side of the over-height commercial space. There is approximately 2,476 sq. ft. of commercial space, including extensive use of natural stone and wood on the exteriors, a cement-panel reveal wall system, street and lane way improvements along Seaport Place and a landmark lane in collaboration with the Town of Sidney. Green considerations included the redevelopment of a former parking lot which increased landscaped areas to replace asphalt surfaces. Dedicated parking and elevators to multi-level townhouse units supports “ageing-in-place” within the community.
